Full Job Description

Muirfield are looking to appoint an Assistant Secretary to support and assist the Club Secretary with the smooth and efficient running of the Club for the benefit of the Membership.

The Assistant Secretary at this 'world famous' private members golf club is a busy and varied senior position. The Assistant Secretary will take the lead on the day-to-day Club Operations providing leadership and support to three key departmental Managers; Clubhouse Manager, Merchandise Manager & Golf Services Manager.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the planning and organisation of members, visitors and competitive golf and assist or lead with a wide range of administrative and project tasks at the Club.

General tasks include:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Club, providing leadership and support to Departmental Managers.

  • Assist the Secretary with delivering Strategic Club objectives.

  • Manage the administration of all Club competitions and handicaps, including entry forms, draw sheets, scorecards, prizes and engraving of trophies.

  • Organise applications for HCEG Official Matches, draws and match arrangements with opposition clubs, the collation of results and communication to Members.

  • Oversee Club Dinner applications and brief Captain on guests / new diners.

  • Manage weekly Pools and Special Pools.

  • Manage the Club's website, including Members' area.

  • Deputise for the Secretary in his absence.

  • Attend Board Meetings and take Minutes.

  • Attend project and other Sub-Committee meetings as required.

  • Maintain up-to-date files for Candidates on the Waiting List.

  • Assist with the annual mailing to Members.

  • Prepare the Club's fixture list.
