Full Job Description

ASCO's global operations deliver a first-class service to our customers. Our quayside operatives deliver safe and efficient support to our quayside operations, applying their range of skills to the evolving needs of our customers.

We are currently seeking applicants who can clearly demonstrate relevant experience and associated training to safely undertake cargo handling and vessel loading/offloading activities.

Our ideal candidate will also clearly demonstrate customer and safety focused behaviours to adapt to changing workloads and priorities, ensuring tasks are at all times conducted in a timely and safe manner in compliance with relevant legislation and Company procedures. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure uninvolved personnel are clear of the suspended loads.


  • Assist in the co-ordination of all crane lifting operations.


  • Assist in the transportation and logistics of lifting equipment.


  • Responsible for ensuring that all equipment used is compliant with legislation.


  • Contribute to the day-to-day interface between lifting operations and any other affected areas.


  • Assist in accurate control and tracking of all lifting equipment.


  • Assist with the planning of lifting operations.


  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the lifting operations/deck areas


  • Assist with the loading/unloading of containers and cargo handling.


  • Regularly participate and contribute to the review of procedures, work aids and risk assessments


  • Continuously promoting a pro-active HSSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance.


  • Actively participate in the Livesafe Intervention (LSI) process


  • Ad-hoc duties as required in line with applicable training/competency assessments undertaken.
