Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a BPA (Business Performance and Analysis) Senior Analyst to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our forecasting and financial modelling and financial analysis. You will be responsible for ensuring that assumptions are well-understood and accurately reflected in financial models, running and interpreting sensitivity analysis and providing financial analysis and guidance to aid in forecasting and decision-making. You will also take charge of in-house investment and business valuation models to support InterGen's business strategy.

The Team

The BPA team at InterGen is responsible for internal and external management reporting, forecasting, M&A deal evaluation, and investment economics. We form an integral part of the wider Edinburgh based Finance team; a supportive team of high performers who are driven by shared goals and a desire to succeed.

As a BPA Senior Analyst, you will work closely with the Head of Forecasting and Investments ("HoFI") on a day-to-day basis and engage regularly with other members of the Finance team. But we don't stop there! The nature of this role ensures you will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues across all functional areas and all levels of the organisation.

Summary of Responsibilities

Support strategic decisions, financial reviews of a wide range of business areas and handle financial planning, forecasting.

Supporting the annual business planning processes and in year forecasting.

Support the HoFI to develop long range, corporate financial analysis and projections.

Maintaining InterGen's in-house view of the long-term development of the UK power sector.

Prepare regular cash flow projections, in conjunction with Treasury team and deliver materials to senior executive team.

Provide valuation support and challenge to investment cases on both existing assets, development projects and M&A activity.

Preparing analysis and modelling support to support business initiatives as and when they arise.

Preparing bespoke management information to support business decisions and one-off projects.

Champion continual review of processes and techniques in providing routine analysis and decision support.

As our next BPA Senior Analyst, you will bring strong analytical skills and be confident addressing and solving problems in a structured manner, with strong attention to detail. You must have excellent Excel skills, be commercially astute and a self-starter. You have the ability to multi-task, stay organised and prioritise deadlines in a continually evolving environment. You are a flexible team player who is enthusiastic about collaborating with others both within your own team and other functions. You have the ability to clearly communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing. To succeed in this role, you will have to be organised and disciplined with a high degree of personal accountability. If you have a large appetite for responsibility and are keen to take ownership of projects with associated accountability, then we'd love to hear from you., Possess a strong numerical background - ideally degree qualified.

Professional finance qualification (CIMA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) desirable but not required. If no professional finance qualification is held you will demonstrate relevant experience within financial analysis areas.

Experience

Track record in using excel for financial modelling or similar analysis.

Understanding and practical experience of Tm1 (IBM Cognos reporting tool) would be a great advantage (introductory training will be provided and then "hands on" training on the job)
