Full Job Description

7 hours per week / 28hrs in a 4 week period

1 to 2 days per week

Salary
Living wage rate - £12 per hour , plus an addition for travel - overall rate £13.15 per hr

Job Purpose To work closely and flexibly with a young man who has is partially deaf. To ensure he is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in his life and to continue to develop and follow his hobbies and interests.

Employer You will be employed by the family, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation., Personalise as required You will be responsible for supporting the gentleman to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by him / his family.
Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the gentleman himself about the particular activities he wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support his choices.
You may be required to work in the evening on occasions and at the weekends to support his interests. This will usually be planned in advance.
You will be required to be a driver and have your own vehicle, your Ins must have business use on it.
Mileage allowance will be paid by the employer.
Walking with the dog and getting outdoors are activities you may be required to support with, as well as supporting the gentleman with the activities he enjoys, these are detailed in the table at the end of this information.
You may at times be required to provide companionship in his own home.

Qualifications Demonstrable experience of supporting people to fulfil their potential and have active lives. Relevant qualification(s).
Knowledge & Skills An understanding of how to support and facilitate in a way that empowers the person.
Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
Excellent and effective communication skills.
Excellent listening skills.
Understands the crucial role that family carers play and the value of their contribution. .

Experience

To have previous experience working within the community supporting people to fulfil their full potential and be independent Have supported people to achieve positive outcomes in their life.
Personal Qualities The gentleman has a wide range of interests which are in a table at the end of this person spec. He is looking to recruit someone with some similar interests.
He is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener and can drive .
The person should be good at connecting into community activities and making contacts/networks Wide experience of community activities
Other You must have a full clean UK driving licence
You must be physically fit
You must have a good sense of humour.
