The Opportunity

At Torness Power Station, the maintenance department is responsible for preventative and defect response maintenance at the power station, ensuring that the daily operations of the station run smoothly and offer best performance possible.
Torness power station plans to be generating power until at least 2028 when it will enter the defueling and ultimately decommissioning stages of its life cycle. We are therefore keen to recruit talent into our teams where you can help shape the exciting vision for the future of Nuclear Generation.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £37,169 to £60,826 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. However, the starting salary for this appointment and role will be within the range of £37,169 to £46,963 dependant on the successful candidate's competence, experience and qualifications.

What you will be doing

Being appointed into this position, you will be required to complete the following roles to ensure the smooth operations on site. These include:

- Carrying out routine maintenance on the power station.
- Reporting safety, environmental and plant issues in a timely manner using station processes
- Ensuring maintenance activities do not adversely affect the environment.
- Carrying out maintenance activities safely and updating procedures as required, feeding back on plant condition pre and post maintenance to improve the effectiveness of the maintenance programme.
- Actively participating in personal performance appraisals and delivery of personal development plans
- Working flexibly within teams under the daily direction of the Maintenance Team Leader.
- Reporting issues of an operational/reportable nature directly to your Supervisor or control function.

Who you are

As our next Maintenance C&I Technician, we are looking for you to have previous experience in the following areas

Calibrating and overhauling equipment associated with the main area principles (pressure, flow, level, temperature).
- Setting up and calibrating control valves and associated control circuits.
- Fault finding on our station systems.

Our key requirement from new technicians is a 'can do' attitude towards your daily workload and a team-work approach to their day, overcoming challenges together and finding the best solution.
You will also be required to perform in Emergency Scheme duties where you will receive full training for any emergency should occur. This means you will need to live within a 45 min radius of the station.
Candidates that have completed a recognised Electrical or Control and Instrumentation apprenticeship, plus relevant experience in the discipline of Control and Instrumentation may have an advantage.
