Full Job Description

There will be occasions where you may be required to work morning OR evening shifts anywhere in East Lothian as this service operates from 07.00 and 22.00 therefore flexibility is required at all times.

The Home Care Service provides care in the home for adults and the elderly across the whole of East Lothian who need assistance and encouragement to carry out daily living tasks.

The Care Support Worker plays a crucial part in ensuring service users identified needs are appropriately supported in the community and are responsible for the delivery of direct personal care and to provide assistance with both practical and emotional support to assist service users to remain in their own homes in accordance with Individual Care Plans aims and targets.

The Care Support Worker is required to respond sensitively and flexibly to a wide range of individual service user situations and have the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Care Support Workers work in partnership with a variety of Health and Social Care Professionals and report directly to The Care Support Organiser.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary Team within a Health and Social Care Partnership.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who have the relevant skills and knowledge required to apply National Care Standards in all aspects of service delivery, who have a caring nature and excellent communication skills and who have experience and knowledge in working in a health or social care setting.

To provide assistance, encouragement, practical and emotional support to the service user within their own home with all aspects of daily living including personal care and domestic tasks. Working in partnership with the Health and Social Care professionals and Line Manager, the post holder will hold a key role in the care planning process, setting aims and targets for individual clients enabling them to maximise their full potential and independence.

SVQ 2 Health and Social Care at SCQF Level 6 and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

If you do not hold the above qualification, you will be required to undertake a course of study to obtain an SVQ Level 2 qualification within the required timescale to meet the requirements of SSSC.

SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant sections of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration as soon as possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date.
