The Post:

As a vital part of NHSScotland, NHS National Services Scotlands mission is to enable and support the delivery of better health and better care, working in partnership. We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care.  As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive. 

The Candidate:

We are looking for a friendly, confident, dynamic and outgoing nurse for one of our Collection Teams based in Inverness.  You will require excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be able to lead, manage and work within a team. You will be self motivated, proactive and an innovative individual with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities.

Knowledge of blood collection processes would be advantageous as you will be required to undertake venepuncture and medical selection duties. You must also be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competencies framework.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.

Location and Working Pattern:

The position is based in Inverness: however extensive travel throughout the Highland region is required. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours will include regular late evenings and weekend working.

Monday to Sunday, 30 hours per week

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
