Full Job Description

Chorrito Cantina in Leith is looking for a sous Chef to join our team. We specialise in Mexican cuisine, hot sauce and hand pressed tacos. Applicants should have a passion for South American cuisine or and a willingness to learn about Mexicos unique culinary regions. The CHORRITO Cantina is an extremely busy working environment, Chef's will be encouraged to interact with customers in a relaxed and informal manor explaining spice and dishes when asked.
We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in overseeing the kitchen operations and ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation. This is a leadership role that requires strong culinary skills, team management abilities, and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences.

Duties:
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and recipe development
- Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and standards
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in proper food preparation techniques
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes and daily specials
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Assist in maintaining cost control measures to achieve financial targets
- Support the Head Chef in scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and food safety standards
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds,
