Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.

Applications are invited from trainee doctors having recently completed or about to finish either UK Foundation Programmes or Core Surgical Training to apply for the position of Clinical Development Fellow (CDF) in Surgery, Trauma + Orthopaedics, and surgical specialties.

These exciting posts will work in the surgical specialties including General Surgery and Orthopaedics at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. In addition, as a CDF, you will have 6 protected hours per week of protected personal development time and 2 hours of in-house training. The remaining period will be distributed between clinical work in General Surgery or Trauma and Orthopaedics on the wards, in clinic, theatre and acute receiving, both in and out hours. Out of hours cover will include cross-covering all surgical subspecialties within Forth Valley including; General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Maxillofacial, Breast and ENT surgery. There may be an opportunity to gain additional experience in another speciality of choice following negotiation with base team and destination team.

The appointment will be on a fixed term and full-time basis (40 hrs). Remuneration will be determined by the pay and conditions of hospital medical and dental staff (NHS Circular: PCS (DD) 2023/01).

The surgical specialties in Forth Valley Royal Hospital provide acute services covering general surgery (including breast surgery), trauma and orthopaedics, urology, ENT, OMFS and ophthalmology.
