Please note this post is for 27.5 hours and is a term time post.

Interview schedule is as follows:

April 28th 2024 - Closing date
April 29th 2024 - Shortleeting
7th May 2024 - Observation at local primary school with deaf pupil involving translation of literacy book into SSE. Prep time will be given beforehand.
8th May 2024 - Face to face interview at local primary school.

The main purpose of the post is to support deaf children/young people and their families.

The support provided will be responsive to the needs of the child/young person and will be flexible and well planned to meet their needs within education establishments, family homes and the community. The expectation is that the post holder will be required to work from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Main duties and responsibilities of the post holder are as follows:

  • Plan and support deaf children/young people to access the curriculum.

  • Providing BSL/SSE communication support to enable access to education and services for children, young people and their families.

  • Supporting staff to learn BSL/SSE.

  • Supporting families in accessing BSL resources.

  • Support deaf children and young people to express their views and ensure they are taken into account.

  • Working in partnership with the class teacher to meet the needs of deaf pupils.

  • Supporting the class, school and wider community in using BSL.

    If you start out with the normal school session, an adjustment will be made to reduce your first pay. This is because you are not entitled to be paid for all holidays. Once this adjustment has been completed, you will receive a 12th of your annual salary thereafter., Disability Confident
