Full Job Description

The Scottish Community Heritage Alliance (SCHA) supports both individuals and organisations involved in community heritage throughout Scotland. SCHA strives to represent these grassroots voices at a national level, while providing advocacy, networking, support and research opportunities. We are looking for people who are passionate about Community Heritage to join us and make their voice heard. SCHA currently has an application with OSCR to convert to a charity. Our website is scottishcommunityheritagealliance.org The Grassroots Heritage in Scotland project: We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated project officer to: identify contact details of heritage organisations and projects, building on contacts and links compiled by SCHA Board members and a student placement in early 2024 organise a series of 12 regional roadshows where grassroots organisations, museums, community trusts working on heritage projects and individual projects will be invited to come together to promote their group and to discuss issues common to all. The project officer will attend all sessions. Two of the sessions will be hybrid. Design publicity material and publicise widely, including on the SCHA website and social media. Organise and facilitate six online meetings where people can meet to discuss issues and further network Organise three online training sessions based on feedback which has emerged from the roadshows. Work with an independent evaluator to provide details to evaluate the project. The candidate will have excellent organisational skills, and will be required to do a substantial amount of administration and monitoring. They will be home-based, and a laptop and phone will be provided. There will also be substantial travel to support delivery of the roadshows. Essential characteristics are: previous experience of organising large events; knowledge of the Scottish heritage sector; good IT skills; good desk-based research skills; proficient use of social media; good website skills; ability to work on one's own, self-motivated and enthusiastic., None specified
