Community Mental Health Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse in the New Beginnings service currently based in Linlathen Resource Centre, Rowntree Crescent, Dundee. The team provides a multi-agency approach to early intervention and assessment of pre and post birth risk for unborn babies and children up to 12 months old. The service targets parents whose circumstances, history and or lifestyle choices are likely to have a detrimental impact on their capacity to parent. This may be due to substance misuse associated with addiction, an enduring mental health issue or a learning disability.

The successful candidate will require a knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection legislation and perinatal mental health. The post holder will be required to complete mental health assessments, formulate plans of care and intervention and work autonomously. An ability to share their conclusions with professionals and participate in forums including childrens hearings, child protection case conferences and team around the child meetings will be required. There will also be an opportunity to develop the role further through your current skills and experience, which could include working through a group format or individual interventions with clients to promote their wellbeing and capacity to parent.

Clinical supervision will be provided by Community Mental Health Teams

The hours of work are currently 9am-5pm Monday Friday however there is an aspiration for community services to be 7 days per week which all post holders would be required to participate in.
