Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry, the post has been developed following the retirement of the previous post-holder.

We are looking to appoint a full time Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in the North Ayrshire Locality. Serving a population of around 16000 Older people in a mostly suburban catchment area of Irvine, with the option of an EPA for covering the beautiful Isle of Arran. The successful applicant will join eight other consultant colleagues in delivering a comprehensive mental health service for older people in NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

The post will be based at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine where the Consultants office and medical secretary are based, with the Community Mental Health Team being in nearby Ballot Road.

Participation in the out of hours rota (max frequency 1:26) is normally expected.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran serves the local authorities of South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire with a total population of approximately 365,000

Ayrshire is a peaceful and charming place to work, with easy access by road from Glasgow.  Many staff choose to live within Ayrshire where good schools and easy access local beaches are just two of its many attractions, which also include a large variety of shopping and entertainment facilities.

The appointment will be subject to the terms and conditions of service of the Consultant Grade (Scotland).

Appropriately experienced applicants must have full registration and current Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Registrar.
