Full Job Description

Applications are invited for the posts of consultant (part time) to work with the ScotSTAR Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Each post is for 2 direct clinical care programmed activities, commencing 1 August 2024.

The retrieval service provides a critical care patient transfer service for  remote and rural Scotland and pre-hospital critical care for seriously injured patients at incident scenes. EMRS also supports the ambulance service in the provision of the medical response to major incidents. 

The service undertakes primary and secondary retrievals on rotary and fixed wing aircraft operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter, and by fast response vehicle. The service supports rural clinicians and specialist services withing the ambulance service by providing clinical advice relating to patient care and transfer.

There are clinical admin and educational elements to each clinical shift in addition to service wide CPD, training and clinical governance activities.

The posts are based at the ScotSTAR West base at Glasgow Airport.
