Full Job Description

In this role, you will be expected to write interesting and excellent copy, as well as generate innovative ideas and fantastic content relevant to the Heritage Brands titles. You will read and edit new script submissions, sub-edit scripts ensuring they are prepared for artists, create clear write-ups for the design team and create cover briefs for artists which are informative and allow for eye-catching and appropriate art. In addition, you will be required to proof pages to a continuously high standard, with meticulous attention to detail and meeting all style guide expectations. You should also have a great eye for comic art.

Working closely with the rest of the Heritage Brands team, you will help develop creative ideas for brand expansion and help with web management and running social media channels. Our ideal candidate will have fantastic communication skills and the ability to establish good relationships with other departments and freelancers.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience working within comics or magazine publishing desirable.

Requirements

Essential

  • The candidate is expected to be able to work to a high standard, skilled in proof reading, copy writing, and editing.

  • A great understanding of comics, particularly in relation to the Heritage Brand titles and/or adventure comics, with a keen eye for comic art detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to create innovative ideas for potential brand expansion, and confidence in working with social media outlets.

  • It is expected that the successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent.

  • Experience working within a publishing company, ideally with experience in comics.

  • A clear understanding of the Heritage Brand titles and their audience.

    The Opportunity

    An exciting opportunity has risen in DC Thomson's vibrant comic's department.

    DC Thomson's Heritage Brands team are looking to recruit a talented Content Producer. Reporting to the Heritage Brands Content Editor, you will aid the team with the creation of Commando, The Broons & Oor Wullie, and classic archive projects involving some of DC Thomson's most beloved brands.

    This is a full-time position 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, working 35 hours per week from our Dundee Office. The role presents the opportunity for hybrid working that will include a minimum 2 days per month in our Dundee office.
