Full Job Description

A five day a week opportunity has arisen for a qualified counsellor to work in The Marie Trust Counselling and Psychotherapy Service in Glasgow. We welcome applicants who are interested in job sharing or more part time hours. We work normal office hours 9-5pm Monday to Friday but with flexibility for some early evening work. The service offers psychodynamically informed counselling to people affected by homelessness. If necessary, we see people for extended periods of time as many clients have faced significant adversity and trauma in their early life and often come with complex needs such as experience of addiction and prison. Part of the role can involve working in women only services. We are a supportive clinical team and have the other resources of The Marie Trust to refer into and use. The post is permanent but subject to grant funding. For further information please contact David Crossley, Clinical Lead, DCrossley@themarietrust.org.uk / or Frances McKinlay, Chief Officer, FMckinlay@themarietrust.org.uk / , None specified

The Marie Trust is a frontline homeless service based in Glasgow city centre. In the past year 2,477 individuals presented to The Marie Trust for assistance. On an average day we can have up to 80 individuals presenting to the centre for advice and assistance, education and meals. The Marie Trust is a small but progressive organisation. We provide practical assistance and have a wide range of facilities; shower and laundry facilities, access to sleeping bags and survival kits, food parcels and clothing. We have a not for profit café service and a training kitchen which has gained the prestigious Healthy Living Plus Award. We are also an approved REHIS training centre and deliver our own in-house training for staff and volunteers. We have our own not for profit charity shop, a counselling service, a male health and wellbeing service, life skills program, dietician and an award winning skills development service which works in and alongside Glasgow colleges. Our crisis intervention service works with the most excluded individuals within society and provides a direct access to advice and assistance for individuals who struggle engaging with services.
