Full Job Description

This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality decision support to the GSC function, encompassing activities in the areas of primary production, cask supply and cooperage, engineering, fixed assets and capex, reporting for the GSC finance team, as well as acting as a core member of The Macallan Operations Leadership team.,

  • Act as a key member of the Leadership Team providing insight and challenge to all aspects of the team

  • Maximise the performance and effectiveness of the team through sharing ideas and stimulating debate on opportunities to improve both financial and other aspects of performance,provide analytical and modelling support across the team to enable strong decision making

  • Lead timely and accurate analytical reporting on the operational performance, as well as the commercial performance of the Brands, enabling effective ownership and decision making within the team

  • Lead the Global Capital Committee process ensuring all capital projects are reviewed and approved and projects requiring board approval are highlighted and included within the appropriate board agenda

  • Act as a key contact between the GSC and operational teams including engineering, distillation and warehousing to ensure we are operationally aligned to deliver best in class quality and service

  • Work closely with the sustainability team to ensure accurate estimates for energy across operational sites and on ad-hoc project work

  • Ownership of overhead reporting, working closely with the Decision Support Manager - GSC to control and track the GSC overhead base

  • Accurate and timely contribution to the monthly accounting activities, producing insightful and meaningful management reporting which enables sound commercial decision making and improves business performance

  • Drive accountability of and challenge the cost base of the Whisky Operations areas to ensure that we deliver financial expenditure and performance in line with business priorities, with all expenditure appropriately executed and monitored.

  • Ensure effective risk management procedures are in place, particularly with reference to fixed assets & R&M, casks and distillation.

  • Lead, coach and develop the Supply Chain finance team delivering against all people processes including PDR, objective setting, development planning and team communication.

    To be successful in this role you hold a degree level or equivalent with a professional finance qualification (e.g ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA) and post qualifying experience commensurate to this level. Strong IT and systems skills are required. You are an advanced excel user who is comfortable with complex spreadsheets and powerpoint and presentational skills are desirable. You have strong leadership capability, excellent team-working and collaboration skills cross functionally and the ability to think strategically and delegate appropriately. You work with ambiguity, demonstrating sound judgement and evaluation skills to deliver on a broad range of BU objectives. You must have interpersonal skills with the gravitas to effectively challenge and hold to account both internal and external stakeholders. The ability to work to tight deadlines and in pressurised situations is essential and you must also be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of

  • stakeholders at all levels. A continuous improvement mind-set is also key for this role.
