Full Job Description

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design aspects of tenders and projects in progress. From establishing effective project design resources to ensuring compliance with departmental procedures, your contributions will be integral to our success.,

  • Establish, maintain, and manage effective project design resources and team profiles at bid and delivery stages.

  • Lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service for clients and key partners/suppliers.

  • Manage and coordinate the overall design process through RIBA design stages, challenging briefs, and bringing innovation to projects.

  • Ensure completion and compliance of design management departmental procedures at all stages.

  • Contribute to design strategy and approach discussions.

  • Ensure appropriate design resources, skill sets, and structures are in place.

  • Program and manage all design reviews and coordination meetings.

  • Coordinate with discipline lead designers to deliver coordinated design solutions.

  • Monitor progress against programs and report to the project team.

  • Ensure that design fully accords with defined specifications and cost plan budget allowances.

  • Coordinate activities of the design team, contractors, and statutory bodies in line with critical dates.

  • Maintain design within cost restraints while incorporating customer requirements.

  • Coordinate change control systems and ensure changes are accounted for, authorized, and implemented as necessary.

    HND/HNC/Degree in relevant field.

  • Membership of relevant Professional Institute (e.g., CIOB).

  • Proven ability to lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service.

  • Experience in key sectors such as Education, Health, Manufacturing, Industrial, Leisure, and Transport.

  • Experience in both single-stage tenders and preferred terms work procurement routes.

  • Experience in bidding and winning work.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong management skills with the ability to motivate self and colleagues.

  • Excellent operational planning and time management skills.

  • Sound knowledge of construction practices and standards.

  • Specialist knowledge in chosen field.
