Transforming Scotland's Economic Landscape
About our client
At our organisation, we are on a mission to elevate Scotland's economic prowess by driving levels of innovation, internationalisation, and investment. Our strategic ambition is to cultivate a fair, green, and flourishing economy; one where businesses with growth potential and export ambitions thrive. We are committed to enabling businesses to innovate and scale, thereby catalysing economic transformation.
The Opportunity
As Scotland's national and international economic development agency, our organisation is at the forefront of delivering transformational change. With an annual investment of approximately £300 million in the Scottish economy, we are poised to leverage our reach and track record to propel Scotland towards greater prosperity. Now, as we gear up to realise the ambitions of the National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET), we are seeking a visionary leader to assume the role of Director of Strategy and Performance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership Excellence: Direct our Strategy, Networks, and Insights team, amplifying their capacity to drive strategic initiatives that align with our transformative agenda. Provide overarching strategic guidance, ensuring synergy across mission delivery, operational capabilities, and enabling services.
Strategic Prowess: Spearhead the development of our economic growth strategy, collaborating closely with our CEO and senior management. Utilise robust scenario planning and modelling capabilities to refine our strategic framework and translate it into actionable plans.
Engagement and Implementation: Articulate our strategy with precision and persuasiveness, tailoring messages to resonate with diverse stakeholders. Forge strategic partnerships with public and private sector entities, both locally and internationally, to share risks and opportunities and drive mutual growth.
Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to gauge the impact of our interventions on Scotland's economy and broader societal objectives. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that our initiatives drive tangible transformation and deliver measurable outcomes.
Skills and Experience
We are seeking a candidate with:
- Extensive experience at senior levels, adept at navigating political landscapes and engaging with key stakeholders.
- A profound understanding of Scottish Government policies and the dynamics of economic development.
- A robust network spanning government, business organisations, and agencies involved in economic growth.
- Visionary leadership capabilities, coupled with a knack for translating strategy into actionable plans.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire and empower teams.
