Full Job Description

As a Modern Apprentice your key duties will include:
. Be a valued member of a team.
· Following nursery safeguarding procedures to ensure all children are kept safe and secure
· Working closely with parents/carers to deliver an individual learning and development journey for children
· Assisting children with personal care tasks including toileting, dressing, and feeding
· Being flexible and providing help where needed, to include the cleaning of equipment and preparing of snacks

We have exciting Modern Apprenticeship opportunities available across your local area, enabling you to work in a Nursery, or an Out of School Care setting earning a wage while you gain practical experience with children as young as babies to pre-school age, to allow you to become a qualified Early Years Practitioner.

Ideally, you should have the ability to read stories, with at least 10 interruptions per page, resemble traits of an octopus with 8 arms and legs to support any little person that needs it at the same time!

Must not be afraid to dance in the rain, make mud pies and jump up and down in muddy puddles!

Possessing the skills required to rapidly count heads of numerous moving small people is of the upmost importance.

Be as quick as a gazelle, when you witness the mischievous look in a little person's eyes.

Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families.

Realise the important role you play in lots of special people's lives.

Skills required:
No experience is necessary, however good communication skills and a keen interest in supporting the development of young children are essential. The ability to engage and interact enthusiastically with children is important.

Hours of work and rate of pay are agreed by the individual employer.
A normal working week in a nursery will be between Monday - Friday, and 35-40 hours per week, however this can vary if you are employed in an Out of School Care Setting.

You will work towards obtaining an industry recognised qualification, which normally takes 12-15 months.

At the end of your qualification, you will be a qualified Early Years Practitioner and have gained a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7.
