Engineer - Advanced Engineering

What will you be doing?

• Engaging with Business Unit partners on the delivery of key initiatives that support optimisation of their business flows


• Playing an active part in the creation of solutions that meet the non-functional needs for a concrete business initiative, while delivering in a way that's generic enough across the Bank


• Supporting appropriate innovation across the domain, enabling the use of modern technologies tied to realisable business benefit


• Partnering with product and engineering teams across the firm to enhance and integrate frameworks and tools that remove toil from engineering activities


• Understanding, identifying and curating innovation and improvement opportunities for complex, high-scale system deliveries across the global firm


• You will scope opportunities and help PoC/PoV on emerging solutions and technologies, staying ahead of anticipated trends


• Working across cyber security, infrastructure and cloud spaces, assisting with the ongoing evolution of the organisation and our ability to balance risks and innovation appropriately
  
  Experience across a range of development technologies and languages - Python, JavaScript, SQL


• Proven DevOps Experience, solid knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins and GitLab)


• Expert background in software engineering, architecture, operations and product engineering


• Experience in the creation of scalable, reliable, secure distributed systems


Skills that will help you in the role:

• Experience in strategy & architecture that have had broad applicability across financial services


• Experience in deep technical engagements to design and deliver positive outcomes


• Knowledge on both contemporary and legacy technology, engineering practices, design patterns
  
  As a Barclays Engineer -Advanced Engineering, you will play a large part in the delivery of engineering efforts, working internally across Barclays' technical experts to solve complex problems and deliver solutions that implement the firm's business and technology strategy. This role is pivotal within the domain, and will have broad impact on Barclays group business areas through the engagements and deliverables undertaken, engaging with Chief Technology Office partners around Public Cloud, Developer Experience, Toolchain and Frameworks.
