WHAT WE NEED

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Engineering Project Planner will lead and assist with the planning, civil engineering input, design planning and draw up works for port innovation projects. In addition, the role will be responsible for budget control and contract preparation.

Duties will include:

  • Input to the review and prioritising of engineering programmes and projects for the Port of Aberdeen
  • In conjunction with the Head of Engineering, lead the delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
  • Responsible for leading on specific allocated projects and collaborating with the wider engineering department on major projects, liaising with other disciplines within the team as required.
  • Provide technical input throughout the project lifecycle, from advisory, planning, design and engineering through to implementation and construction management.
  • Input to feasibility studies for proposed projects, providing detailed recommendations to the Head of Engineering. Ensure that all plans, feasibility studies and designs are produced accurately, diligently and efficiently.
  • Ensure the Engineering team is kept up to date on project status, budgets and timelines via monthly projects meeting, updating relevant project documentation as required.
  • Liaise with Maintenance department regarding ongoing projects and planned maintenance and provide engineering input to exceptional maintenance work as required.
  • Report as soon as possible any faults, damage or errors with existing infrastructure or works under construction.
  • Work closely with Commercial and Business Development to provide engineering input and technical expertise to project proposals and funding applications, including budgeting and overall strategy.
  • Prepare contract documents and ensure that all permits and CDM Regulations are complied with.
  • Responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation and reports, keeping accurate records of contracts and ensuring all files are kept in line with Engineering departments document policy.
  • Liaise with and build positive working relationships with the Engineering Department, Operations, Marine, Commercial, Business Development, Finance and SHEQ teams and external service companies and suppliers. 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc / BEng in relevant discipline, such as Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge and substantial experience in project planning.
  • Knowledge and experience of design management, cost estimating, bid specifications, contract management and construction supervision.
  • Skilled in Autocad drawing.
  • Good knowledge and interest in renewables and decommissioning projects.
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing along with an understanding of current CDM regulations and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Familiarity with industry standard analysis and design.
  • Ability to manage and lead project teams.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, problem solving, planning and execution skills.
  • Positive and flexible approach to work.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

SALARY AND HOURS

Salary up to £63,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

36.5 hours per week
