Full Job Description

As the Short Term Trading Manager in Europe, you'll oversee short-term trading. You need to know the CWE markets and a trader's duties. You'll train junior traders, create strategies, and make shift desk tools.

We're growing to lead European short-term trading. This job is key to improving our team and SSE Energy markets. It's a great chance for the right person.

You will set up ways to advance and evaluate traders at all levels. You will define their jobs and responsibilities. This includes measuring a trader's value and managing their career progress.

Your tasks will be:

- Lead European DAH and Intraday Trading plans. Make tools and strategies to gain more and lose less.

- Build and keep operational tools. These help Operations teams compete better and increase PPA value.

- Work with other European trading desks. Aim for a long-term strategy. Also, support trade analysts to give traders more trading time.

- Create, keep, and manage relationships with people inside and outside the company.

- Work with Regulation and Compliance teams. Ensure we meet all rules.

A degree in Maths, Physics, Engineering, or Economics or equivalent experience.

- Experience analyzing the European power market. Know about commodity markets, industry players, and what drives them.

- Skills to make and use complex analysis tools and models.

- Skills to make and explain complex trade ideas.

- Ability to watch trading positions and think of new trade ideas.

This role for EM enables SSE to focus its investment in energy markets capabilities (including Trading, Risk Management, Energy Economics, Settlements and Advanced Analytics) in one centre of excellence, with these enhanced capabilities supporting value creation and decision making across the SSE Group.
