Full Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be recruiting, on an exclusive basis, for a Financial Accountant for an Angus-based group. This organisation is known for supplying high quality products across the UK and Europe and has company entities based both in the UK and internationally. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the reporting and analysis of financial results whilst ensuring compliance with controls. You will join a company on a journey to develop its IT and reporting systems, including PowerBI reporting capabilities, and will join a team that can offer opportunities to progress in your career.

The Job Opportunity

You will be responsible for the completion of monthly accounts for a number of business entities, completing accounts to PL and Balance Sheet. You will produce monthly financial reports, providing insights in the results to business managers and will support the wider finance team in the completion of Group accounts. Your role will include;

  • Preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations liaising with colleagues across the business to gain relevant information
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and the audit of group entities, adhering to deadlines
  • Preparation of government and tax returns including VAT
  • Variance analysis, providing commentary on matters impacting business performance

The Successful Candidate

You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CA/CIMA) with strong technical skills and proven track record of accounts preparation. As the business is evolving systems and processes, you will have an interest in and, ideally experience of process change and making improvements to enhance reporting efficiency. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, achieving deadlines and interacting with key stakeholders.
