Full Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are proud to be working with our client, a high growth Tech start-up business with significant investment and backing, to recruit a Financial Reporting Manager. This is an exciting time to join this business, as the finance function builds for further growth and the business expands into new territories with new clients.

Supporting the wider finance team, this successful individual will play a key role by taking ownership of the monthly financial close process in a hands-on capacity. With an office in Dundee, this role is offered on a hybrid basis with some travel required to Dundee, and occasionally Edinburgh required.

The Job Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join this dynamic sector and truly make the role their own. You will work closely with the CFO and Financial Controller to build a best-in-class finance operation. Day to day this will involve;

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, board reporting and statutory accounts
  • Responsibility for the monthly financial close process which will include posting journals and preparing reconciliations as well as reviewing the work of other team members
  • Leading the company interaction with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Implementing and maintaining strong financial controls, mitigating business risk
  • Develop financial controls, suitable for a growing business environment

The Successful Candidate

You will ideally be a Qualified Accountant with a proven track record of working in a fast-paced business environment. Part-Qualified or QBE Accountants with relevant experience may be considered. Experience of financial reporting and strong accounting knowledge are essential - this may come from an audit or an accounting background.

Joining a growing business, you will need to have;

  • A strong work ethic and ability to navigate change

  • Low ego and high empathy
  • Ability and, ideally experience of, working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong accounting knowledge (UK GAAP or IFRS)
  • Strong IT skills and experience of accountancy software - ideally experience of developing or enhancing controls and processes

As this is a growing company, your roles and responsibilities will evolve and there will be a requirement to be adaptable and resilient. Although this role does not directly manage staff, there will be an element of supporting team members to ensure reporting objectives are achieved.
