Building a sustainable tomorrow

As an apprentice, you will be on a development plan and a career mentor to help your progression throughout your apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will require you to work away from home. While working away from home meals and accommodation will be covered

Your mission

Groundworkers are the first trade onto a construction and civil engineering site and they work closely with supervisors and engineers in interpreting design specifications to prepare the site ready for the structural building works to take place.

They continue their work throughout the construction phase, working with all on-site construction trades, such as bricklayers and plant operatives, up to and including the final completion activities of the project.

As an apprentice at BAM you will be surrounded by a wealth of experience to learn from. Your training will include learning how to;

  • work safely and securely in compliance with given information, organisational policies and procedures, and current health, safety and welfare legislation including following the procedures for working in contaminated ground.

  • Interpret and follow verbal and written work instructions from supervisors and site managers

  • access, interpret and use drawings and specifications

  • select the required resources including tools and fixtures

  • use and maintain power tools and equipment

  • install and test basic drainage and ducting

    We are looking for someone who is looking to start their career in the construction industry. You'll need good communication skills, be an excellent team worker but also be able to use your initiative.

    As this is an apprenticeship, you must be prepared to work towards your qualification whilst also working on site and gaining the experience you need to succeed.
