Full Job Description

The Harvester Operator will be responsible for:

  • Achieving the targets set by the Forest Manager

  • Machine servicing

  • Assisting the Forestry Manager in the planning of operations

  • Assisting the Forestry Manager in pricing and tendering

  • Acting as site supervisor in the absence of the Forest Works Manager

  • Monitoring of site health and safety

  • Maintaining environmental standards

  • Undertaking harvesting operations and ensure efficient breakout of product

  • Ensuring quality control in particular product dimensions

  • Arranging product in a manner that enables efficient extraction

  • Alerting the Forest Manager to any issues of quality control, health and safety or environment

  • Reporting to Forestry Manager

  • Salary dependent on experience

    Essential attributes: Effects driven, polite and honest

  • Essential skills: Harvesting operations, their safety and environment

  • Desirable attributes: Self starter with the confidence to ask questions

  • Desirable skills: A working understanding of forest health and safety and environmental management

  • Essential qualifications: NPTC or LANTRA qualifications in Harvester and Forwarder operations commensurate with operating purpose built John Deere machinery

  • Essential experience: At least 1 year working in forest harvesting operations or 3 years on farm machinery

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Harvester Operator to join our team and oversee the planning and execution of harvesting operations across our client estates.
