Full Job Description

Our work matters to millions. It will matter to you too. Join our Plant and Fleet team as an HGV Vehicle Technician working from our accredited workshop in Shotts, Lanarkshire and you'll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.

You'll carry out service and repairs on HGVs and oversee the Health and Safety requirement of all our workshop activities.

What you'll be doing

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure highest standard/quality of workmanship on all maintenance requirements;

  • Assist as necessary and in the absence of the Workshop Supervisor/Manager, co-ordinate all repair and maintenance activity;

  • Ensure the highest quality workshop/mobile service and repair on car, light, heavy and specialist commercial vehicles;

  • Ensure completion of mandatory scheduled inspections/calibrations regarding all workshop equipment;

  • Complete all Safety Checks Tool Box talks Risk and COSHH Assessments;

  • Ensure the effective economic operation of the department;

  • Exceed our customers expectations;

  • Ensure that a safe system of work is carried out at all times and in line with the Companys health, safety, environmental and quality procedures., Day in, day out, our teams deliver amazing projects in challenging conditions; developing, managing and maintaining the vital infrastructure and public spaces that modern economies, societies and communities rely on.

    City & Guilds or equivalent qualification within the relevant field or ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of skill;

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Management;

  • Basic computer and diagnostics skills.

  • HGV Driving Licence;

  • Winter maintenance experience;

  • Customer focused.


  • Desirable
  • CPC holder;

  • Specialist vehicle knowledge.
