Full Job Description

We now have an exciting and challenging opportunity to join ASCO Group as an Instructor/Lifting Consultant within our North Sea Lifting (NSL) business. NSL are global lifting and rigging specialists who have been providing technical expertise and training for over three decades.

The role will provide delivery of NSL training courses and lifting operational guidance, supervision and management to clients. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivery of NSL & accredited courses at NSL training centre and client sites


  • Conduct technical reviews / audits of client systems, process, equipment and personnel


  • Provide technical reports to clients and management


  • Deliver competency assurance and development internally and to clients


  • Review and development of technical and training materials


  • Maintenance of plant, equipment and materials used in the training centre


  • Support of client & company activities as a technical and / or operational function. (e.g. lift plan review, assurance & verification and provision of cover of client / site-based personnel)


  • Mentor inexperienced colleagues / cross development & training


  • Create and develop client and inter-company process & documentation


  • Development, review and delivery of training materials


  • Assist NSL Management with internal / external accreditation activities


  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and suggest improvements / changes to the process


  • Project support, e.g. procedural review or document suite creation


  • Ensure continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to laws, regulations and industry standards/codes in partnership with the HSSEQ department

  • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)


  • Crane, heavy lift and transportation knowledge


  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Rigging & Lifting - NSL/EAL L2/3, OPITO St.3, NPORS etc


  • Banksman Slinger - NSL/EAL L2/3, OPITO St.3, NPORS etc


  • Assessor - D31/32, A1 LD9 etc


  • Training / Instructional - PTLLS, CTLLS, AET etc


  • Full UK Driving License


  • Desirable Qualifications/ Competencies

  • Training / Instructional Background


  • Degree or diploma level qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Lifting Operations


  • Internal Verifier/ Internal Quality Auditor


  • Loler Competent Person


  • Mechanical Lifting Operator Experience (Mobile / Pedestal Crane)


  • Lifting Equipment Inspector Modules 1 - 6 / LEEA


  • Offshore Experience (OPITO BOSIET/HUET/FOET)
