Full Job Description

As part of the HR team, you will be based in Midlothian House, Dalkeith, working across the whole of Midlothian. You will be responsible for undertaking employee relations investigations in line with Council People Policies, this will involve meeting witnesses to take statements and preparing final reports for presentation at any subsequent hearing.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR generalist to expand their investigation and case management experience to enhance their employee relations knowledge. Reporting to an HR Business Partner you will have a trusted advisor to discuss cases with on an ongoing basis.

You must be able to demonstrate an ability to investigate fully, fairly, objectively and in a timely manner and produce comprehensive reports of a high standard. Understanding the employment law requirements of "balance of probabilities" is critical to success in this role.

You must have a degree level qualification in an HR or related discipline or be able to demonstrate extensive relevant experience of employment investigations. You should also have a strong analytical approach to your work, be detail conscious and demonstrate problem solving skills. Associate membership of the CIPD would be desirable.,

  • Degree level qualification or be able to demonstrate extensive relevant experience

  • Experience of undertaking investigative work in a multi disciplined organisation and /or in an environment providing a service of legal authority.

  • A strong analytical approach to work with an emphasis on problem solving.

  • Ability to write robust, comprehensive investigative reports for Senior Management.

  • An understanding of local government or other large public sector organisations.

  • An understanding of legislation relevant to this area of work.

    Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £31,633.60 per annum.
