Full Job Description

You will sit within the Aegon AM equities team and mainly support the Investment Specialist team on both routine and ad-hoc projects.

The Investment Specialist team's role is to support Aegon AM's fund managers and communicate our fund range to investors and intermediaries. The investment specialists explain what investors might expect from a Aegon AM fund, how our funds are structured and how our funds have dealt with and are dealing with political, economic or other market events.

Additionally, the investment specialists are a bridge between regular fund reporting and the global sales teams and take on many specific requests for information by clients. The team is also actively involved in supporting our direct sales teams by understanding and winning new business opportunities.

Tasks will include (training will be provided):

  • Presentation production - Creating and maintaining presentation content on the equity fund range

  • Research - Research related to equity funds, stocks and wider markets

  • Data Analysis - Collecting and manipulating data on stocks, funds and markets

  • Prospect work - Support investment specialists in the production of proposals for new client business

  • Administration - Monitor team mailbox and manage requests, minute taking in team meetings

  • An interest and desire to learn and further understand financial markets (particularly equity markets), an interest in economics (UK and worldwide) is desirable

  • Use of Microsoft office package including Word, PowerPoint etc

  • To be able to access and use independent data sources to support colleagues and better answer client needs

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and ability to learn and work as part of a team

  • Enthusiasm, independent thinking and consistent work levels

  • Adaptable and achievement orientated, Standard Grades in Maths and English - level 1-3 or equivalent and a further education qualification (e.g. Highers, Scotvec, HNCs, HNDs).

We will also support you in achieving an industry recognised professional qualification.     Our trainee programme is a fixed term one year contract paying £20,000. You will receive 27 days annual leave plus 9 public holidays. You will also be entitled to take 2 paid Volunteering days. The primary location for these roles is Edinburgh. There will be an opportunity to work some days of the week from home.
