Full Job Description

Your role as an IT Hardware Technician is to support and maintain customer technology equipment and IT assets. This includes installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and including upgrading equipment while ensuring its optimal performance. The individual will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide assistance where required.

Technical Support Requirements:

  • Provide multi-vendor OEM hardware support for all hardware and computer services including, servers, storage, PC / laptop and UPS systems.

  • Provide on-call support (either on-site or remotely using VPN connectivity) outside normal working hours as required on a rotational basis.

  • Co-ordinate with vendor support for resolution of problems and incidents.

  • Provide and schedule preventative maintenance tasks for customer site visits.

  • Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as required.

  • Apply server hardware and compute patches, updates and perform upgrades.

  • Produce documentation and reports as required.

  • Perform support activities during planned maintenance windows outside of normal working hours.

  • Perform IT hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user IT hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.

  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex IT hardware problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.

  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding IT hardware problems.

    Good knowledge and experience with server hardware and compute services.

  • Strong customer-service orientation.

  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience

  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.

  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

  • Willingness to learn on the job and adjust roles as required.

  • Self motivated and directed.
