Full Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: This is a "hands on" position which will provide for the effective operation of the kitchen. The Kitchen Supervisor post will have responsibility for the day to day running of the café kitchen, including stock control, preparation of hot soup and snacks and hot and cold refreshments and maintenance of a hygienic working environment. The café is also responsible providing nursery meals Monday to Friday.

The post holder will also have responsibility for supervising any work placements and enabling volunteers to undertake tasks to support the running of the café and where relevant support them to be signposted to gain access to new opportunities in training, education and employment, JOB PURPOSE: This is a "hands on" position which will provide for the effective operation of the kitchen. To supervise, train and work alongside staff and volunteers in the preparation of

food for sale in the café.

2. To be involved in the development and review of the menu and service.

3. To work in accordance with all current food hygiene and health and safety legislation.

4. To participate in the development and implementation of marketing and initiatives to expand the business and optimise revenue.

5. To ensure all volunteers are encouraged to work to their full potential.

6. 1. A current food hygiene certificate. Our premises works and adheres to Cooksafe (HACCAP) practices. Some knowledge of this is an advantage

2. City and Guilds 706/1 or equivalent

3. Experience in the catering trade

Skills & Knowledge

4. Experience in food preparation and presentation for sale

5. Experience of ordering, stock control, menu review and planning

6. Commitment to customer satisfaction

7. Ability to recognise and implement volunteer training needs

8. Awareness of health and safety legislation and guidelines

9. Effective communication skills verbal and written

10. Good basic numeracy

Other Requirements

11. Flexibility and willingness to work outside normal office hours

12. Ability to handle pressure and stressful situations

13. Must have good cooking and housekeeping skills.,

  • Supervising experience: 1 year (preferred)

  • Restaurant management: 1 year (preferred)

  • Bar management: 1 year (preferred)

  • Hospitality: 1 year (preferred)

  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

  • Management: 1 year (preferred)
