Full Job Description

  • In this key role, you'll own the development of the learning and coaching strategies, and manage the delivery of learning and development activities working directly with the senior business leadership team in support of our One Bank learning strategy

  • We'll look to you to lead the alignment between different business areas to agree and embed the bank wide Learning & Development (L&D) strategy and drive a culture of continuous learning

  • What you'll do

    As our L&D Lead, you'll own strategic relationships across the aligned business areas to translate future strategy, skills and workforce plans and support the development of the bank wide L&D and Senior Leadership Development & Coaching (SLD&C) strategy.

    Working in partnership with the relevant parts of the L&D CoE and SLD&C CoE, you'll enable the delivery of the strategy and plan, and drive the delivery and implementation of services and learning products through a consistent One Bank operating model.

    Your role will also involve:

  • Diagnosing and designing the business specific learning and coaching strategy

  • Owning the business specific learning curriculum, including accountability for the design and development and delivery of learning initiatives supporting bank wide goals

  • Providing business insight to the L&D CoE, SLD&C CoE and Strategic Workforce Planning teams to shape bank wide learning and coaching strategies and propositions

  • Managing the spend and forecasting for the aligned business area learning budget, including associated governance and prioritisation, in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements

  • Collaborating with leadership in the business and making sure that the business specific needs are represented in the plan to help them achieve their strategic goals and desired impact

  • Leading and developing your team, ensuring their professional capability meets the needs of the business and the CoE

    As a seasoned professional, you'll need experience of developing learning and development strategies in a complex business and driving their use for strategic advantage. You'll bring knowledge of applying learning and development theories, models and practices.


  • We'll also look for strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to use information to develop creative value add solutions.

    You'll also demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of the behaviour change process and associated challenges

  • The ability to build and foster a culture of continuous improvement

  • Experience of operational and financial planning, and managing large budgets for business benefits and maximum efficiency

  • Experience of working with and influencing at all levels

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels
