We are seeking a skilled Lithographic Printer to join our production team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining lithographic printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials for our publications. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to meeting production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate lithographic printing presses to produce newspapers, magazines, flyers, and other printed materials.
  • Ensure that printing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to achieve optimal print quality.
  • Monitor the printing process to detect and correct any issues that may arise, such as misfeeds, ink discrepancies, or mechanical problems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning rollers, replacing worn parts, and replenishing ink and paper supplies.
  • Work closely with prepress technicians and other production staff to ensure that print jobs are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and adjust as needed to keep production running smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, including quantities produced, materials used, and any quality control checks performed.
  • Stay informed about new printing technologies and techniques, to continuously improve printing processes and product quality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a lithographic printer, preferably in a commercial printing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining lithographic printing presses, including knowledge of press setup, registration, and colour management.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve printing equipment issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards throughout the printing process.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed to support production schedules.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to printing operations.
  • Certification or formal training in lithographic printing is a plus.
