Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.

An opportunity has arisen to join our Maintenance Team within the NHS Central Acute Sector.

You should have completed an appropriate recognised mechanical apprenticeship with qualifications and experience in working within the confines of other trades, ie mechanical and plumbing disciplines.

The duties involve installation and maintenance of mechanical systems, air conditioning & air handling units,  boiler plants, fire alarms, CCTV systems, building management systems, domestic cold & hot water systems, heating systems, etc. You will have qualifications relevant to mechanical and plumbing disciplines. You will become proficient with SHTMs 03, 04, & 06 as well as other healthcare technical manuals to allow you to achieve Competent Person qualification.

You will be required to work with external contractors on projects and minor work installations and cover an on-call practice with other tradesmen.

A Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

This post is based at Victoria Hospital, but you are required to work anywhere in the Central Acute Sector.

Your salary is dependant on the level of qualifications, knowledge and experience of multi-trade abilities.

For informal enquiries please contact David Crawford, Estates Officer (Maintenance Services) on ext 21397.
