Full Job Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a long-standing Glasgow-based client that is looking to add a newly created Management Accountant to their existing team. This role offers great benefits including study support, hybrid working and progression opportunities.

 

This role is best suited to a part qualified accountant looking to complete their professional qualification with experience in management accounts and business partnering and has strong analytical skills.

 

Job Purpose 

Working within the Finance team, you will offer assistance to the Operational Business Partner in supporting our operations team. This role as a management accountant involves preparing management accounts and financial reports, offering analysis and insights into operational cost variances. This role has an Assistant Management Accountant directly reporting to it, this experience would be advantageous but not essential.

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Compile monthly management accounts for key business sectors
  • Ensure completion of all month-end tasks as per the agreed schedule and meet relevant deadlines
  • Collaborate with operational colleagues as a business partner
  • Develop an understanding of key contracts
  • Maintain control over balance sheet accounts
  • Engage in weekly and monthly reporting, and enhance skills in Power BI
  • Provide support for ad hoc / project work as required by the Accounting and Central Reporting Lead

 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a finance environment is necessary
  • Ideally pursuing a professional accountancy qualification (support will be provided)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong IT skills
  • Experience in a high-volume transaction environment
  • Ability to commit to multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach to process improvement within the team, including exploring future opportunities with Microsoft D365
