Managing Quantity Surveyor

Are you a Managing QS seeking a role with a social housing contractor in growth mode?

We are delighted to be working with one of Scotland’s fastest growing construction businesses as they look to capitalise on a sustained period of growth by investing in their housebuilding division and delivering multiple developments across the East and West regions of Scotland.

This is a crucial Managing Quantity Surveyor role, one that will have a high degree of senior level exposure so should appeal to those with the ambition to make a name for themselves.

Your main responsibility will be to manage the commercial department on a day to day basis and provide wider strategic support to the Commercial Manager.

While no two days look the same, your typical responsibilities will include the following weekly / monthly:

• Managing a commercial team of varying levels across multiple projects, providing guidance and mentoring where required.
• Liaising with operations team and support services to ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Ensuring timely provision of monthly cost value reconciliations, cashflow monitoring, monthly and quarterly forecasts.
• Monthly applications for payment.
• Monitor project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy when required.
• Work with clients and stakeholders to achieve optimum commercial solutions.
• Ensure compliance and adherence with project and company commercial procedures including for procurement and subcontract management.
• Provide commercial input into the Pre-Construction/Tender phase of projects.

To be considered for the role we are looking for people with the following:

• Previous experience of managing a commercial team (ideally across multiple projects).
• Experience in the social housing sector (desirable).
• Strong all round knowledge of standard forms of contract.
• Proactive and approachable leadership skills.
• Ambition to drive departmental success.
