Full Job Description

Technical Duties

  • To actively participate in technical & design engineering activities in support of the full range of Hydrasun's products and services e.g. Product design, evaluation and modification, tender evaluations, manufacturing processes and equipment etc.

  • To work with customers on design, manufacturing and applications by supporting the development and design of their product and resolving any issues arising.

  • To ensure full compliance, during all engineering and related activities, with regard to sound engineering practice and adherence to relevant internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards

  • To ensure development and improvement of existing products and services, where possible

  • To actively pursue the development of new product ranges from conceptual design to manufacture

  • To liaise with suppliers on technical and engineering matters

  • To ensure knowledge of industry developments is kept up to date

  • To ensure activities within the Engineering Department meet agreed target completion dates.


  • Administration
  • To carry out all the relevant administrative duties including helping with management reports and audits

  • To keep any filing/admin/databases up to date

  • To Adopt a "no surprises rule" and to ensure delivery against agreed objectives and targets.

    HND Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent OR Degree in Engineering discipline

  • Demonstrable experince of working in an engineering environment with design experience in a relevant area

  • Experience of carrying out engineering calculations. e.g. stress, strain, load

  • Experience of active participation in engineering reviews and/or investigations with customers

  • Ability to use Autocad competently

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software, in particular Word and Excel, to a competent level

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of personnel

  • Able to plan, organise and prioritise

  • Sound understanding of business needs and a strong commercial focus

  • Strong customer focus, both internal and external

  • Ability to provide creative solutions to meet organisational needs.


  • Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies
  • Working towards Chartered Status

  • Experience of product and process development

  • Autocad, Mathcad and FEA programmes experience

  • Knowledge of materials and processes used within offshore oil and gas operations.
