Full Job Description

Charlotte Chapel prayerfully wishes to appoint a Ministry Operations Director to enhance our church's operational effectiveness, while allowing our pastoral and ministry teams to focus more deeply on spiritual leadership and pastoral care.

Job Purpose

The postholder will serve as a member of the pastoral team, and will enhance the church's operational effectiveness, so that the pastoral and ministry teams can focus more deeply on spiritual leadership and pastoral care.

Key Result Areas:

Reduce the administrative burden on the pastoral team, so that the team members can devote the greatest part of their time to pastoral care, sermon preparation, and spiritual leadership.

Be responsible for the facilities manager, administrative staff, and caretakers, review and revise their work patterns so that essential operational tasks are carried out efficiently.

Understand and enhance the link between operational needs and ministry goals so that ministry leaders can focus on the spiritual development of those within their ministry.

Work alongside the deacons and support their function so that they can serve God more effectively.

Take responsibility for risk management within Charlotte Chapel, ensure that all aspects of church life are safe so that nothing brings the name of Christ into disrepute.

Tasks

  • Review the current operational and administrative needs within Charlotte Chapel.

  • Design and take responsibility for a new operational and administrative plan.

  • Integrate administrative and operational tasks with the needs that a large number of ministry areas generate.

  • Work closely with the pastoral team and provide the operational support that they require.

  • Work with the deacons and agree ways in which this new role can support their ongoing work.

  • Assist with the coordination of finance, buildings management, human resources, communication, welcome, and hospitality teams to ensure legal and procedural compliance.

  • Facilitate a stronger, more coherent discipleship pathway through improved coordination and support of ministry activities.

  • Implement member training programmes in collaboration with ministry leaders, enhancing the skill sets of our volunteer base.

  • Take responsibility for the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme within Charlotte Chapel, work with the Safeguarding Coordinators to ensure that an excellent standard of safeguarding is in place.

  • Ensure that policies are reviewed and revised as required.

  • Manage the church calendar to prevent event overlaps and reduce member burnout.

  • Coordinate logistics for church-wide projects and events, ensuring effective communication and volunteer mobilisation.

  • Ensure that church events and programs are well organised, accessible, and effectively communicated.

  • Analyse church metrics to enhance our discipleship pathway and member engagement, ensuring that members are well cared for, and ministries improved.

  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of Charlotte Baptist Chapel.

    Demonstrable strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

    Demonstrable organisational and leadership abilities.

    Proven experience of successfully overseeing teams and delivering projects.

    A collaborative spirit and a record of working effectively within a team environment, both as a leader, and a team member.

    There is an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a committed evangelical Christian who would become a member of the congregation in full agreement with our doctrinal statement and membership commitment.
