Full Job Description

We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Corporate team. This will be based primarily in Inverness but will extend to assisting with work in our other offices. The team provides a full range of corporate and commercial services including:

  • Mergers and acquisitions;

  • Company technical, reorganisation and secretarial work;

  • Commercial contract drafting and advice including on IP and IT matters;

  • Commercial advice involving companies;

  • Banking and corporate securities.

  • The role will involve assisting and providing support to Inverness-based partner Angus MacLeod. Support to our Corporate teams in our other offices may also be involved.

    The position offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to build relationships within this framework to allow them to progress in areas in which they excel. General and bespoke training will be provided to support that ambition.

    The team is seeking to foster a culture of excellence combined with enjoyment. Whilst team members are expected to work hard and collaboratively on projects to achieve deadlines, provide a great service and be technically excellent, we recognise the social value to work and the importance of a good work-life balance.

    As well as having post-qualifying corporate experience (or we may also consider candidates with exposure to corporate experience during their traineeship), you should:
  • have a willingness to learn;

  • have good IT and document skills;

  • be able to work on your own initiative on a number of transactions;

  • be focused on time management and operate to deadlines;

  • be able to communicate positively and effectively internally as well as with clients, other legal representatives and other involved parties;

  • be prepared to develop your own and the firm's networks with a view to assisting in business development;

  • demonstrate a commitment to providing an excellent level of client service; and

  • show initiative, be enthusiastic and proactive and have a positive attitude.

  • The role involves building rapport and trust and becoming a trusted adviser to your clients. You can expect to have regular client contact and be responsible for projects with guidance and supervision right from the start.
