Full Job Description

MSPs are employers in their own right. Under their employment, you will become part of a team supporting them in carrying out their duties. You'll work in a dynamic and fast paced environment to provide an outstanding service for constituents. Responsibilities Research and engagement Gathering and distributing valuable data that supports my activities. Keeping your knowledge of policy areas and local issues up to date. Carrying out research projects. Obtaining and compiling relevant research documents from external bodies. Preparing, drafting and delivering motions, speeches and regular briefings and updates. Submitting, collating and monitoring responses from PQs (written and oral). Analysing, evaluating and interpreting data and statistics. Engaging with stakeholders, ensuring I have access to (accurate and contemporary) data and intelligence. Liaising with various external groups and stakeholders e.g. think-tanks, NGOs, other elected representatives. Acting as a support to me in my role on Committees and as Party Spokesperson. Communications and press Communicating with parliamentary officials. Representing on my behalf as and when required. Organising and arranging interviews and press conferences as specified. Drafting and issuing press releases. About You Essential requirements Be a quick learner with the ability to multitask, work within tight timescales and to deadlines. Have proven research and analytical skills with the ability to identify and investigate trends while interpreting data. Have skills in communicating and presenting complex information to others at various levels. Ability to lead on areas of project work while developing new areas and methods of research. Be able to respond flexibly and creatively to range of requests, such as media enquiries and press releases. Have experience of writing speeches and/or writing content for a variety of audiences and in a variety of styles. Have experience in engaging with the press including drafting releases/content for the media. Be a proactive problem solver with the motivation and resilience to adapt and deal with challenges. Desirable requirements Have an interest in politics with the confidence to represent someone e.g., to another elected member or in a media-related capacity. Be capable in monitoring media developments and sourcing information from a range of channels. Experience working in politics or policy at a national level. Have digital and organisational skills. Understanding of the political landscape. Experience in stakeholder engagement and management., None specified
