Full Job Description

Carnwadric After School Service is an out of school care service with charity status providing breakfast club, after school care and holiday care across East Renfrewshire and Glasgow.

As a playworker you will be working with children between the ages of 4-14 years and provide a child-centered service for children and young people, in a safe, secure and homely environment.

You will be working within a dedicated team of Professional Play Workers and you must be enthusiastic, highly motivated and reliable.

The role of the playworker will include:

Being responsible for the health, safety, and general well-being of the children, ensuring regular headcounts of children within the service and on outings.

To plan activities in advance in consultation with children.

Assist in weekly administration and ensure any paperwork is kept up to date and replenished when necessary.

Ensure all medication is safely managed in line with best practice guidance.

  • SVQ 3 Social Services Children and Young People or equivalent (Required), The ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with issues arising within the service to ensure that the privacy and dignity of service users, parents and staff members is respected.


  • A good knowledge and understanding of the service policies and procedures and risk assessments.

    Planning and evaluating a range of play activities that are age and stage appropriate.

    Knowledge of the Care Inspectorate standards and grading system and how they relate specifically to the out of school care environment.

    A willingness to actively participate in regular training opportunities to ensure own learning and development is kept up to date and relevant.

    From £11.50 an hour - Permanent, Breakfast club 7am-9am Monday to Friday

    After school 2.30-6pm Monday to Friday

    You will be required to work additional hours during holidays throughout the year. Free childcare for staff will be available during our holiday care service

    You are required to register with SSSC within 6 months of your employment
