Pre-Construction Project Engineer

Morrison Water Services are currently looking to recruit a Pre-Construction Project Engineer to work on our Scottish Water DV2 contract. The role is based in our Stepps, Glasgow office reporting to the MWS Head of Pre-Construction and will involve travel to sites as required.

As the Pre-Construction Project Engineer you will be you will be working as part of the Pre-Construction Team. This team are responsible for helping manage the Project Engineering aspects of the clean & wastewater projects within the capital delivery works Programme. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team on projects focussing primarily on water & wastewater M&E capital maintenance and growth projects.

You will assist Project Managers with knowledge to complete design and project engineering deliverables within the Pre-Construction phase. You will attend and contribute to internal and external design review and progress meetings. You will participate in design co-ordination with other engineering disciplines and professionals. You will be required to undertake site surveys, taking measurements, photos, asking questions of operations, aware of process, assessing access and egress. Resolve technical and logistical issues as they arise. You will be required to assist Estimating team through creation and review of bill of quantities and take-off's., You will be required to engage supply chain for project enquiries and reviewing returned tender submissions. You will review specifications and designs against industry standards and specifications. You will be responsible for the production of Engineering reports & Feasibility studies. Also the production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements. You will act as a liaison between pre-construction and delivery teams. Ensuring that reviews on buildability and constructability of proposed solutions are actively carried out with the delivery team.

Do you hold a relevant engineering degree or HND?
Can you demonstrate an awareness of water and waste-water industry processes? Or do you have experience in industrial electrical installations, utilities industry experience (i.e., rail, telecoms, national grid, water or equivalent engineering industries/ backgrounds)?
Have you gained experience in Civil engineering/Utilities?
Do you have a good understanding of NEC form of contract? This would be advantageous.
Do you have previous experience working in an estimating function?
Are you able to demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work with staff at all levels?
Do you have the ability and desire to identify opportunities for improvement, and influence change?
