Full Job Description

Working within Legal, Democratic, Digital & Customer Services, you will be part of Inverclyde Council's corporate information governance resource, with responsibility for the development, review and implementation of policies, procedures, training and guidance and the provision of specialist legal advice in relation to all areas of information governance such as data protection, freedom of information and records management. You will act as the Council's Depute Data Protection Officer, assisting the Council's Data Protection Officer with monitoring and advising on data protection compliance. You will also be responsible for the supervision of a small team of Information Governance and Complaints Officers. You will be responsible to the Legal Services Manager (Procurement, Conveyancing and Information Governance).

Applicants must be qualified solicitors enrolled in Scotland and must hold a current practising certificate, the cost of which is payable by the postholder, and must have knowledge and experience in dealing with data protection and information governance matters., If you work in regulated work (children and/or protected adults) you will be subject to obtaining a satisfactory PVG. A small number of posts require a Standard or Basic Disclosure check and the majority of all other posts will complete a Criminal Convictions Form. All disclosure checks are obtained via Disclosure Scotland. If you are the successful candidate you will be required to pay the cost of the disclosure check required for your post.

Regulatory Bodies

If your post requires registration with a Regulatory Body such as HCPC or SSSC etc., you are required to obtain and maintain registration including paying any fees for HCPC.
