Responsibilities

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council. The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.

As the Principal Teacher Early Level the post holder will be responsible for leading, managing and further developing the ELCC. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to work as part of a team, and proven experience of leading and managing at early level is essential.

Applicants must have experience of teaching at nursery and primary level, and be capable of modelling the highest standards of classroom management. Knowledge and experience of implementing Curriculum for Excellence at early level is essential and knowledge of the national practice guidance Realising the Ambition., Disability Confident

Dalreoch Primary School has a current roll of around 100 children organised into 5 classes, and as part of the early years expansion programme will also have a nursery class within the school with 72 children aged 3-5 years.

The successful candidate will support the Head Teacher in the delivery of the strategic vision, values and aims to ensure successful delivery of high quality learning and teaching through a play pedagogy approach at early level.
