Full Job Description

We have a very exciting opportunity to join our team. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing various customerprojects within a dynamic scientific environment. You will work closely with scientists, Department Heads, clients, and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects.

You will ensure that all projects are de-risked and delivered in line with managed client expectations, realising measurable benefits and providing a foundation for repeat business. You will be responsible for delivering project delivery excellence to clients and monitoring performance against an agreed impact reporting framework.

The successful candidate will be embedded within a dynamic, sociable team in a role with flexible working hours. The role will be based at the Roslin Innovation Centre where there are regular bus links to the City Centre, free on-site parking, an on-site gym, on-site childcare, and several on-site cafes - the perfect setting to meet colleagues over a coffee in view of the beautiful Pentland Hills., 1. Project Planning and Execution:
+ Develop detailed project plans outlining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
+ Coordinate with laboratory teams to ensure the effective execution of projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
2. Client Interaction:
+ Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates, addressing inquiries, and managing client expectations.
+ Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and ensure alignment with their expectations.
3. Resource Management:
+ Allocate laboratory resources efficiently to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
+ Coordinate with section leads and scientists to ensure adequate staffing levels and equipment availability for project activities.
4. Quality Assurance:
+ Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
+ Work with quality assurance teams to conduct audits and inspections as required.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant standards, protocols, and regulations.
5. Budget Oversight:
+ Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial goals are met.
+ Identify and communicate any potential budgetary issues and deviations to stakeholders.
+ Work to optimize resource utilization within budget constraints.
6. Project Documentation:
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including protocols, reports, and any necessary regulatory documentation.
+ Prepare and submit project documentation for internal and external review.
7. Collaboration with Stakeholders:
+ Foster collaboration and effective communication with cross-functional teams, including commercial, scientists, technicians, and other relevant personnel.
+ Work closely with project stakeholders to understand their needs and address any issues or concerns.
8. Continuous Improvement:
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and quality.
+ Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in laboratory technologies.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, or related field).

  • Proven experience in project management within scientific environment.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

  • Certification in project management is a plus.
