Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

The New Works Division of The Property Department of NHS Tayside is looking to recruit a Project Manager.

This post will be responsible to deliver strategic and operational solutions for NHS Tayside in relation to effective Project Management.

NHS Tayside currently has a significant portfolio of property projects in development and a need to deliver transformation of our existing property portfolio into one that can meet the changing models of healthcare of the future.  The projects can range in size from small ward and office reconfigurations and refurbishments to major new build premises and whole site rationalisation.

Project management as a discipline encompasses many aspects from technical skills, to facilitate the monitoring and management of projects, to the softer skills required around negotiation, conflict management and stakeholder engagement.

Applicants should hold or be working towards a recognised Project Management qualification (PRINCE 2 or APM) and ideally be able to demonstrate competence through experience gained working within a Project Management environment preferably in capital and organisational change projects.  Desirable experience of NEC, SBCC and JCT contracts would be an advantage.

The postholder will be expected to self-generate a significant quantity of work based on the requirements of projects guided by the Senior Project Manager and Head of New Works and use initiative and drive to anticipate and react to changes in priority and direction.

The post offers a unique opportunity to enhance and greatly contribute to the Property Department and the Boards performance in NHS Scotland and requires commitment and drive to ensure that NHS Tayside performs effectively and efficiently in the delivery of projects.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.

Hours of work are:  37 hours per week

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Short-listed applicants will be contacted by email.   Please check your emails regularly.
