Pupil Support Officer - ASL/ESP
Castlebrae Community Campus

Salary : £26,788 - £30,751(Pro rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours : 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Edinburgh have created Enhanced Support Bases in mainstream Secondary schools to allow pupils from the local community to receive the support they need to successfully engage in education. This post will require the successful candidate to support pupils within the ESP/SfL and around the school. As part of this Castlebrae High School are advertising an exciting opportunity for someone to be part of the staff team in this provision in their school which is now a permanent position. This post is an opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional support needs to be successful .

The successful candidate will require a strong background in supporting pupils who require a high degree of individualised approaches to meet their needs. They will support a small group of pupils to access education which will be tailored to the needs of each individual.

The pupils in this base and around the school will require bespoke planning due to having social communication support needs.

Training to meet their development stage will be available for the successful candidate.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
