Full Job Description

THE COMPANY


Dundas Building Company have an opportunity within its expanding Commercial Team for a Project Quantity Surveyor.

The business currently operates 5 sites incorporating a wide variety of developments from executive properties, apartment blocks, a range of 3-5 bedroom family accommodation and some affordable housing units throughout the central belt.

Based at our Head Office in Livingston the successful candidate will join a dynamic team focused on controlling, reducing and reporting on all commercial activities of the allocated projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Responsible for effective on-going monitoring of costs and control of labour, material, plant and sub-contractors.
  • Preparation of cost reporting and accurate cost to complete for your allocated projects including working with project team on cost prevention.
  • Responsible for the procurement of all sub-contractors, materials and plant essential for the delivery on time and within budget of your allocated projects.
  • Evaluating sub-contractor tenders, comparing with development budget and appointing sub-contractors.
  • Responsible for the accurate measurement and valuation of works on site and preparing and processing sub-contractors valuations and associated payments.
  • Preparing quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Attend monthly site meetings with project team.
  • General commercial and administration duties associated with your allocated projects.
  • Contributing to the efficient running of the Commercial Team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSc)
  • RICS or equivalent surveying qualification preferred.
  • Experience of Flatted Developments.
  • Experience in dealing with groundworks would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience in Social housing again would be advantage but not essential.
  • 3 to 5 years post qualification experience in private residential house building an advantage though not essential.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate to both site and office based personnel.
  • A proactive individual with the ability to drive deadlines, has good attention to detail and works accurately and effectively under pressure.
  • Proficient in using Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
  • Capable of acting on their own initiative whilst working effectively within a team environment

CONTEXTUAL INFORMATION


  • Member of the Commercial Department comprising Commercial Manager and two Contract Surveyors
  • Based at head office in Livingston with development sites in central Scotland
  • To be flexible in terms of work content and time pressures to deliver relevant information to Directors
